1991, Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act dictates certain rules and regulations covering alcohol and drug testing regarding the safety of transportation employees in trucking, aviation, railroads, mass transit, pipelines and other transportation industries. DOT has published rules regarding Federal Drug Testing Program, how to continue these test including types, frequency, and procedures to be followed during the testing. These vary by modal, FMCSA, FAA, FTA, USCG, FRA, PHMSA.
